Armada Middle Academy of Arts & Sciences (AMA2S) offers a 6th, 7th and 8th grade integrated program that focuses on accelerated learning and problem solving. Our students are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes and learn from these experiences. Through these experiences, students learn to take responsibility for their own learning and become independent thinkers.
Annual student-designed research projects engage students in the real life application of math and science concepts, and provide the students with opportunities to integrate technology and creative arts concepts into their learning experience.
The Armada Middle Academy of Arts & Sciences’ courses are taught in a unique way. The program is designed to integrate the mathematics curriculum and technology into the science activities whenever it is appropriate. Because AMA2S runs a block schedule of approximately 3 hours each morning, the teachers are free to structure the time to best meet the needs of the students and the type of learning that is taking place. Therefore, the schedule may look different every day. Teachers use a combination of direct instruction, integrated instruction, individual and small group projects, and whole class, real world experiences to achieve the objectives of the AMA2S curriculum.
