Principal's Welcome

Orville C. Krause Later Elementary Welcomes You!

Krause Later Elementary offers a well rounded education for students in 3rd-5th grade in a caring, warm environment. Students are challenged to realize their potential daily as our staff facilitates meaningful lessons linked to the Michigan Standards and Benchmarks. Our school has also been awarded a grant from the Michigan Special Education Department entitled “Michigan Integrated Behavior and Learning Support Initiative (MiBLSi). This exciting grant will allow our staff
to use data to facilitate reading and behavior improvements.

In addition to rigorous instruction in the core subjects of mathematics, language arts, social studies, and science, students attend “specials” daily. These specials include art, physical education, music, library/technology, and cultural studies. Music instruction includes a classroom piano lab utilized by all students throughout the school year.

Each classroom is equipped with four to five computers in addition to our school’s two computer labs, allowing for increased opportunities to use technology at Krause. Students may participate in Tiger Tracks, a walking program recognized by the state of Michigan as an exemplary program for increased physical fitness. Field trips take our students to Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village, the Detroit Science Center, the Troy Historical Museum and much more!

Parent participation is welcomed in the classroom or as part of our parent group, Tiger Cub Boosters (TCB). TCB meets the first Wednesday of every month at 9:00 in room 136 and offers incredible support to our school. Our teachers appreciate any feedback from parents via conferences, phone calls, e-mails, or notes in the student planner.

As you can see, Krause Later Elementary is a terrific place to be! Our goal is to provide the best education possible for every child and prepare children for the challenges of middle school, high school, and beyond. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or meet with me for clarification.
